Vail Daily letter: Kudos to Hoffmann

After reading Richard Carnes’ commentary on “Shuttergate,” I would like to add my two cents’ worth to the pie!

All of us in this beautiful valley should be so thankful, appreciative and excited that a family named Hoffmann came to town. The Hoffmann effort is something so special — that one un-governmental group cares so much for an area that they purchase and rehab that area, something that has to date been only a vision.

I would ask that the Avon council welcome this new energy to the town and work with this group instead of always being against an independent developer.

I would suggest that we encourage this new vision, complete with the beautification of sculptures and flower beds. Let’s try to be positive and get over the smallest of Avon’s selective pickings of flags and shutters. (Actually those shutters look great.)

Hoffmann group, keep up your vision and hopefully the kind people of Avon will learn to appreciate your contribution of creating a unique and wonderful place to be.
