Vail Daily letter: Out of touch

Perhaps Don Rogers (My View, Friday) doesn’t understand the impact of the World Championships on the Vail Valley. While he was out skiing, he apparently failed to notice the 10,000-plus enthusiastic local, as well as international, spectators filling Red Tail Stadium each day, the 2,200 volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep the championships running smoothly, the several year efforts of the Vail Valley Foundation to make this a world-class event of which we can be proud — and the embarrassing error of misspelling Mikaela Shiffrin’s name in bold headlines in Thursday’s edition of the paper! He will, we are sure, notice the impact of the millions of dollars in donations by individuals and corporate sponsors resulting in advertising dollars to the Vail Daily as he makes his bank deposits! Yes, skiing is far more than a participation sport — it is definitely a spectator sport in this valley!
