Vail Daily letter: Thanks for support
Christ Church Eagle Valley would like to thank the community for their overwhelming generosity during our food drive benefiting the Food Rescue Express backpack program, making it a huge success on Sept. 20. You donated enough food to provide underprivileged children in Eagle County elementary schools weekend meals for approximately three months.
In addition, you donated almost $600 to the Food Rescue Express. We apologize for confusion about cash donations; we discouraged many cash donations because of potential issues. However, due to the persistence of many we still collected a large sum of money that will allow the Food Rescue Express to purchase any supplies needed to round their menus.
We’d like to thank the five stores in the community that allowed us to collect donations at their stores: The City Market in Eagle, the Village Market in Edwards, Wal-Mart in Avon, the City Market in Vail, and Safeway in Vail. Each of these stores very graciously helped us and encouraged their customers to support this worthy cause.
Lastly, we’d like to thank the Vail Daily for its support of our food drive, donating a large advertisement promoting the food drive. Kip Tingle, Christ Church’s account manager at the Vail Daily, told us about the paper’s generous offer and worked with me to help design the ad that ran on Sept. 20.
Anyone in the community who was unable to support our food drive last Saturday, The Food Rescue Express will be conducting another food drive this Saturday at the Wal-Mart in Avon. Please visit their table and leave your food or cash donations to support the children of Eagle County.
Pastor, Christ Church Eagle Valley
