Vail Daily letter: Thanks to Avon voters
Dear Avon voters,
On behalf of the Avon Town Council, I would like to extend a profound thank you for approving financing of both the new Avon Police station and new Eagle River Fire Protection District facilities. Avon’s stations — police and fire — will be built as a joint public safety facility at Buck Creek next to the new medical office building. Construction on this high priority project is scheduled to begin this summer and will serve the public safety needs of the community for decades.
Coinciding with the construction of the public safety facility is the town’s decision to move forward on relocating town hall to the Mountain Vista Office Building. Design and construction of the interior is expected to be complete within a year. These crucial decisions allow Avon to continue its recovery from the economic downturn and implement plans for a revitalized town core envisioned by our predecessors on the Town Council.
We will keep you informed on the progress of both projects and encourage everyone to participate in the community discussions that will begin this summer about the best use of the land freed up by relocation of fire, police and Town Hall. Your input is needed on determining the future of town’s most precious asset — Nottingham Park.
Thank you again for casting your ballots in support of public safety and the Town Council’s commitment to keep Avon moving forward.
