Vail Daily letter: Tjossem for Vail Council
I would like to express my support for Susie Tjossem for her re-election to Town Council. I had the pleasure of service on the Vail Chamber and Business Association board of directors with Susie for many years prior to her first term on Town Council. In my experience I had found Susie to be extremely well organized, well informed, and well qualified for the tasks that I have had the pleasure to work with her on. Susie has the ability to grasp both financial and operational matters quickly and her insights are always helpful as they are based on this sold foundation.
Prior to serving on Town Council, Susie also served on Planning and Environmental Commission. During her tenure on PEC Susie worked on the West Lionshead Master plan as well as the Vail Town House Redistricting. This experience directly correlates to a Town Council member’s responsibilities and there could be no better training ground to prepare oneself for Town Council.
I have spent a great deal of time over the years observing our Town Council. It is not to be underestimated how significant the learning curve is for a new council member. These elected officials have to get up to speed quickly with the town of Vail laws, protocol, regulations, as well as the history associated with the topics at large. They have the difficult task of absorbing and comprehending all of this information in addition to their other jobs and family obligations. Susie’s previous four years places her in the position of having great momentum as a leader on the current Town Council. We should all appreciate the benefit that the previous term has afforded Susie, and in turn will greatly benefit us, the citizens of Vail.
Please vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to elect Susie Tjossem to another term on Town Council and give her another four years to continue with the great work that she and her co-council members currently have under way.
