Vail Daily letter: Is leash enforcement necessary?
A quote from this week’s Eagle Vail newsletter:
“Eagle-Vail requires that dogs be leashed at all times when off of your property. This means when walking down the street, in a park or on the golf course you must have physical control of your dog.
“On Tuesday and Thursday of next week Eagle-Vail’s Compliance Officer, Ted Hanley will be patrolling the cross country track between the hours of 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. on holes 1 and 12. He will be looking for dogs at large and owners walking their dogs off leash.”
Really? I can understand requiring leashes on roadways. That is a safety issue. But on the golf course? I don’t even have a dog, but I love watching the dogs joyfully rejoicing their brief dog freedom on the golf course every day. What possible safety issue is there with a dog playing on the golf course?
The “compliance officer” on golf course dog leash patrol? Is this Russia? I think this needs to go to neighborhood vote like the “let’s spend $100 million trying to make our golf course look like Cordillera” thing last year. Why do we even need a “compliance officer”? Let’s fire him, sell his truck, and use the money for something that benefits the community!
