Vail Daily letter: Where’s Gardner’s town hall event?
I wish to thank U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and his staff for holding a well-attended town hall meeting in Edwards on June 9. The senator fielded questions from constituents on a number of issues, including health care, climate and energy policy, education, immigration and more. Sen. Bennet has held more than a dozen similar town meetings this year.
By contrast, Sen. Cory Gardner has refused to schedule a single in-person town hall in 2017, despite repeated requests from Colorado constituents for the opportunity to communicate with the senator in a public forum. This is particularly concerning in view of Sen. Gardner’s role as a member of a GOP committee crafting a significant health care bill.
If you value transparency and accountability from your elected representatives, I encourage you to contact Sen. Gardner’s office (303-391-5777) to respectfully request that he schedule a series of town hall meetings with Colorado citizens.
