Vail Daily letter: ‘Yes’ on 1A
I’ve been blessed in my life to accomplish a number of seemingly difficult tasks, such as climbing some of the world’s highest mountains. These tasks, while difficult, seem to pale in comparison to the difficulty facing our community with regards to affordable workforce housing. I love the Vail Valley community, enjoy serving our locals and guests, and am committed to “world-class customer service.” I fear if we don’t take action on our affordable workforce housing situation, this community will no longer be able to thrive like I know we can. Voters have the opportunity to address our workforce housing crisis by voting “yes” on ballot issue 1A. The funding, a 0.3 percent sales tax (3 cents on $10, exempting groceries) is a small price to pay to create more Miller Ranch-type neighborhoods, develop price-capped rentals for locals, help bank land for future development and enhance the first-time home-buyer program and down payment assistance program. I encourage everyone to learn more at VoteYeson1A.com and to vote “yes” on ballot issue 1A.
