VAIL — Jim Flaum, president and managing broker of Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate in Vail for more than 23 years, is handing the leadership reins to John Pfeiffer, currently vice president of sales and broker development for both Summit and Eagle counties.

Pfeiffer will become the new president and managing broker of the company, formed in 1962 and which merged with Vail Resorts Real Estate Group in 1994.

Flaum has led the real estate company since 1994, seeing it grow to 150 brokers and more than $1 billion in annual sales. A perennial voice of experience highlighting trends, cycles and the state of real estate in the Vail Valley, Flaum is one of the most respected names in real estate in the country with a laudable career both with Slifer Smith & Frampton as well as the U.S. Navy as an officer and pilot.

“Jim has been the steady, respected leader of Slifer Smith & Frampton for decades,” said Harry Frampton, founder and partner of East West Partners, owners of one of Colorado’s largest real estate and development companies. “Not only has he overseen the unparalleled growth and careers of so many tremendous brokers, he has been instrumental in leading countless philanthropic efforts and has been the quiet force of leadership throughout the Vail Valley. We are pleased that he has so skillfully brought Johnny Pfeiffer along as a seasoned and most-suitable successor and are thrilled he will continue his strategic counsel and board leadership with all of us in the ownership group.”

About Pfeiffer

Pfeiffer started with Slifer Smith & Frampton in 2004. In June 2016, he was promoted to vice president of sales and broker development for Slifer Smith & Frampton, leading the management team after four years of serving as branch broker in Breckenridge. He has worked in Eagle and Summit counties as a broker, as well as with the Denver team in Riverfront Park, and has 24 years of experience in real estate, hotel and telecommunication sales and management.

“I can’t tell you how honored and grateful for the opportunities SSF has afforded me and the team” Pfeiffer said. “For 23 years, Jim Flaum has been our leader, our mentor, our coach, a visionary and most importantly, our friend. My goal is to ensure we continue his legacy.”

Pfeiffer will oversee the entire brokerage arm of Slifer Smith & Frampton’s 24 offices throughout Vail and Summit Counties. Pfeiffer will head the leadership team including Jeff Moore, vice president, managing broker — Summit County, and Shawna Topor, vice president, marketing on the management team as well as Jason Cole and Jill Dorr, operations directors for Eagle and Summit counties.

Pfeiffer will assume his new role immediately. Flaum will remain in the Vail Valley, serving on the Slifer Smith & Frampton Board of Directors, acting as a strategic consultant to them as well as enjoying more time with his wife, Cookie, children and grandchildren, who live in the Vail Valley.
