Devils rally to beat Glenwood

GYPSUM — A comeback is big for any team.

It’s even bigger for young team like Eagle Valley girls soccer.

The Devils roared back from a 2-1 second-half deficit on Thursday afternoon for a 3-2 victory over Glenwood Springs at John Ramunno Field in Gypsum.

“We had a few unlucky setbacks, but the girls still believed in what we were doing and trusted in it,” Devils coach Maggie Sherman said. “They never stopped going, and to put it away is one of the best feelings.”

The Devils’ Jessie Adams struck twice in the final 40 minutes, including the game winner with 10 minutes to go. Freshman Karlina Feduschak scored for Eagle Valley (2-1) in the first half.

Sophomore Brennecke Gale was big for the Devils in net, and Ginny Osteen was clutch at center back, directing the defense, clearing the ball and starting it forward. (It shouldn’t come as a shock that a coach who played for the Vail Mountain School’s Bob Bandoni would put major stock in that position.)

And with that, the Devils bounced back nicely from a tough loss against Battle Mountain, another good sign.

Eagle Valley continues league play on Tuesday by bundling up and heading over to Summit County.
