Aces galore at Cotton Ranch

Daily Staff Report

Got aces?

The Cotton Ranch Golf Club opened March 10 and, within the span of five days, the club had a staggering three aces to start the season.

“I’ve never seen that before. The golfers struck gold at Cotton Ranch,” said the course’s head pro, Sean Riley. “Three holes-in-one in one week is a good start to the season.”

Brian Kittleson started the parade on March 12 with an ice on No. 12 in Gypsum. He used an 8-iron to hole out from 141 yards.

The next two aces came on the 17th. Ron Kubicki of Denver fired the hole-in-one with a 7-iron from 164 yards. Gypsum’s Robinette Hopper witnessed this bit of golfing greatness on March 14.

Not to be outdone, Jonny Mogambo Lider, attested to by Rob Foster, duplicated that feat two days later with a 5-iron.

Riley reports that with the early spring, tee times are filling up quickly down at the Pete Dye-designed course. It’s $40 to walk and $50 to ride. Range balls are included. For those with the itch to pull out the sticks for the new season, call (970) 524-6200, ext. 2 for a time.
