Bantam A’s finish season well

Vail Mountaineers Bantam A finished the season with a with a win over Steamboat Springs. The Vail Bantam A Hockey Team faced league-leading Aspen at Dobson. Ryan Gautier of Aspen broke with 53 seconds left to steal one from the Vail, 3-2. Next was a trip to Steamboat Springs, where Vail jumped to a two-goal lead in a hard-hitting, penalty filled game. The results however went in Steamboat’s direction as the Braves won, 7-4. Jordie Coffey earned another hat trick. On the next day Steamboat came over to Vail. In another hard-fought battle Vail capped its season with a win over second-place Steamboat, 2-1. Ryan Barry had his second goal in as many days, assisted by Spencer Comerford. Steamboat’s Christopher Finch answered unassisted to tie. Finally, Coffey added the game winner with a great assist from defenseman Bryan Ratowski. The Mountaineers finished their league one spot out of the playoffs as a slow start to their season curbed their chances. The team was led by head coach Barry Biegler and assistants Scott Hovey, Kurt Davis, and Tom Becker. Hats off to the kids on a strong finish. High school coaches take notice, there are some great candidates for next year coming off this team including goaltender Kalen Burnett.Vail, Colorado
