EDWARDS – Glenwood Springs traveled to Battle Mountain for a Friday night football matchup on Huskies’ Senior Night, which resulted in a Demons’ win, 41-7.

Battle Mountain’s seniors are Keenan Bowman, Brian Claymon, Blaize Olle, Clayton Belcher, Austin Tafoya, Kodie Hoyt, and Umberto Ricci.-

The game started off quickly for the Demons, when Henry Hill took off for the races on a 54-yard run for a touchdown. Then, the Demons would get the Huskies to turn over the ball on downs and would capitalize on a 23-yard run by Derrick Chase.-

The Huskies offense was looking pretty good in the first half of play as it was picking up some first downs and also converting on a lot of fourth down conversions, coming from quarterback Ben Maslan and seniors Olle and Tafoya. Midway through the second quarter Huskies quarterback Maslan would get picked off by Demons’ Kody Fox for a 62-yard touchdown. The Huskies, down 21-0, were looking for an answer.-

A name that doesn’t get called a lot on the Huskies offense was Brian Claymon who was running the ball on Senior Night, hoping to get a score for his last football game. Claymon would run it in for a 10-yard touchdown for the Huskies just before the half, which fired up Claymon and the rest of Huskies.-

During that second half, something sparked the Demons and they came out with a burst of energy, rushing for two touchdowns and also a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown by Austin Tribble. Those three scores would end the game and season for the Huskies, as they lost 41-7.-

It was the end of the road for Huskies seniors Olle, Claymon, and Bowman, but they were able to reflect on this season and talk about some good memories they made this year.

“I’ll never forget the hook and ladder (in Delta) and watching Deb (Brian Claymon) score,” said Bowman.

“The hook and ladder, Blaize running all over Cortez, me getting to run the ball, Ken’s (Bowman) pick and touchdown against Moffat, and Blaizer’s 25-yard TD in Moffat,” said Claymon.

“Deb scoring and Ken’s hook and ladder,” said Olle.-

Battle Mountain hopes to improve for next year as it was a young and rebuilding team. The Huskies finished their season 0-10 overall and 0-8 in league and the Demons finished their season 5-5 overall and 5-3 in league.-
