Battle Mountain hockey shuts down Palmer, 9-1

VAIL – Battle Mountain hockey jumped all over Palmer with five goals in the first period and didn’t stop in a 9-1 win Saturday night at Dobson Arena.The Huskies are now 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Metro Conference.Both of Battle Mountain’s top lines were cranking as Even Sherer and Brad Myers rang up hat tricks. It was another ho-hum evening for Austin Chow. No. 11 had two goals and four assists. Alex Biegler had the playmaker-plus-one with four assists.Casey Kleisinger put up a goal and a helper. Jonathan Stevens assisted on two goals and Derek Byron fed Chow for his second goal.Coach Andy Hire’s three stars were – 1) Myers, 2) Sherer and 3) Chow with an honorary star going to goalie Foster Fox, who saw his first action of the season.Battle Mountain hits the road next weekend with a game at Pueblo Friday and a Saturday tilt at Bishop Machebeuf.Sports Editor Chris Freud can be reached at 949-0555, ext. 614, or cfreud@vaildaily.com.Vail, Colorado
