Battle Mountain volleyball beats Rifle

Huskies go to 13-3

Here’s the quiet story of the fall season.

Battle Mountain volleyball is 13-3 and was ranked No. 10 in the rating-percentage index before winning at Rifle, 25-14, 25-19, 25-14, on Tuesday night.

Huskies sophomores Alexis Barthuly and Delaney Gersbach made big contributions. Drea Pedersen ran the show and seniors Carly Post, Tatum Huffman, and Sofi Petrovski got coach Jason Fitzgerald postgame plaudits.

Next up for Battle Mountain is Round 2 with Eagle Valley in Edwards on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Huskies swept the Devils last month in Gypsum.

Thursday is also Senior Night for the Huskies.

VMS soccer falls

Vail Mountain School soccer lost a heartbreaker at Delta, 3-2, in overtime.

VMS (7-6-1) finishes the regular season on Oct. 24 with a home game against Aspen.
