Berry Creek Bash on for Wednesday, Vail Valley cyclists

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – Long climbs and plunging singletrack descents mark the Berry Creek Bash, the second in the Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain Bike Race Series, which takes place on Wednesday in Edwards.

Distances range from two miles for the youth racers to 10.8 miles for the pro and expert racers.

Registration will end Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The race will begin at 5 p.m. with the youth category. Juniors, men and women beginner and sport categories, men’s vet sport, women’s vet and Clydesdales will begin at 5:45 p.m. The men’s and women’s pro and expert, masters, single speed and vet experts will race at 6:30 p.m.



The post-race party will be at E-Town in Edwards with a free keg of beer for race participants. Prizes also will be presented after the race to the top three finishers of each category. There will also be a raffle prize drawing featuring products from race sponsors, area merchants and national companies.

The Kind Bikes in Edwards, the official shop of the Berry Creek Bash race, will be offering racers a $20 race tune up through June 17. Mention the VRD Bike series to receive the discount.

Racers should park on the east side of the Edwards Medical Pavilion on Beard Creek Road, at the Edwards Truck Stop or the after party location, E-Town. Cars that park at the Shaw Cancer Center will be ticketed.

Preregistration for individual races, and the entire series is currently underway for all experience levels, ages eight and older. Team registration costs $2,350 and allows up to 15 riders to compete for the overall series title. Individual series registration costs $150 and an individual race costs $25 for preregistration or $35 on race-day.

Upcoming races include the rescheduled Hammer in the Hay at 4 Eagle Ranch on June 29, the Vail Grind on July 8 on Vail Mountain, and the Mike Janelle Memorial Race/Davos Dash on July 22. The race series ends Aug. 5 with the Beaver Creek Blast, featuring a new course.
