TAMOK, NORWAY ” The Big Mountain skiing doesn’t get much bigger.

Starting today, Vail’s Tyson Bolduc will be competing in the Nissan Arctix, a helicopter skiing event in Tamok, Norway. The Arctix, which is a new event, will have three days of competition across a 10-day window, as weather conditions vary in the area just south of the arctic circle.

Bolduc, who took second at the U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Championships this past month, is one of 32 skiing and snowboarding competitors who were selected for the Arctix and the only American.

Riders will be judged on their best run per day based on difficulty of their line, fluidity, control, aggression and technique. Weather permitting, riders will have between three and six runs a day.

For more information on the event, check out http://www.arctixtamok.com.

The first two days of competition were postponed because of weather, although the weather looks a bit more promising for today.
