Broncos sign punter Mitch Berger

ENGLEWOOD, Colo – The Denver Broncos signed veteran punter Mitch Berger Monday and waived second-year punter Brett Kern.

Berger is a two-time Pro Bowler and a 16-year NFL veteran who was with Pittsburgh last season. He has a 43.0-yard career punting average and a career net average of 35.8 yards.

Terms of the Broncos deal weren’t disclosed.

Berger made the 2004 Pro Bowl with the New Orleans Saints and the 1999 Pro Bowl with Minnesota. After two seasons with the University of Colorado he was selected by Philadelphia in the 6th round of the 1994 NFL draft.
