Brown named CAA Player of the Week

BOSTON, Colorado Sophomore Britney Brown was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Brown is the first Husky to receive this honor for the 2008 season.The Edwards resident, who was a main cog in the Battle Mountain Huskies 2006 state volleyball title, helped the Northeastern Huskies to wins over CAA opponents Virginia Commonwealth and William & Mary over the weekend.Brown recorded a double-double in a Northeastern sweep over VCU on Friday, posting 10 kills with a .421 hit percentage and 18 assists. Brown also had six digs and a block.On Saturday, Brown had a triple-double in a 3-1 win over William & Mary. The setter had a career-high 15 kills, 30 assists, and 13 digs. Brown also had two blocks and two serving aces.Brown ranks third on the team in kills with 124 and second on the team in assists with 275 and is just 12 away from 1,000 career assists. She also leads the CAA in service aces with 20.Northeastern is now 11-7 overall and leading the CAA at 5-0. The Huskies are back in action Friday, when they welcome the Georgia State Panthers.
