Clark, Fusilli win Avon Shootout
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON , Colorado” Christine Clark of Evergreen and David Fusilli of Strattanville, Penn., were named the winners of Avon’s Big Air Shootout Competition in kayaking.
Each was awarded a cash prize of $2,500.
Clark got first place in the female division for her space Godzilla trick, which is a front loop with a twist.
“This is a very difficult trick,” said Joe Blair from Untraditional Marketing, Inc. “It is not something the average kayaker can do.”
Fusilli, a professional paddler for Team Prana, captured first place for a front loop trick with the biggest air out of any of the competitors (approximately 5 feet high).
Clark, who has been paddling for three years, said that she likes Avon’s whitewater park and that she enjoyed this competition because it allowed her to “focus on specific skills” she wanted to master.
“I hope that they have this competition next year and that it continues to grow,” Clark said.
Avon partnered with the Vail Daily and the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa to host Avon’s Big Air Shootout, a unique online video competition which ran from May 15-Aug. 15.
Kayakers paddled the Avon Whitewater Park and took video of the tricks they performed. Entries were then uploaded to the http://www.vaildaily.com and were judged by other viewers as well as a jury.
