CU player accused of providing beer high schoolers

BOULDER, Colo. – Authorities have ticketed a University of Colorado football player for allegedly providing four kegs of beer to high school students during a senior camping trip where some became ill because they drank too much.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s office says 21-year-old Brandon Gouin faces a misdemeanor charge of providing alcohol to an underage person. Gouin is a junior at CU who joined the football team as an outside linebacker in 2008.

The sheriff’s office accuses Gouin of buying four kegs of beer last week and given them to the students for the camping trip that drew about 200 people in the mountains west of Boulder.

Authorities say three students were hospitalized and three others were taken to an alcohol recovery center.

Gouin faces up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
