Devils beat Basalt
GYPSUM – Eagle Valley baseball got back on the winning track Thursday afternoon by downing Basalt, 9-4 Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils (7-4-1) rebounded from a doubleheaderC sweep last weekend at the hands of 4A Slope-leading Palisade.
“Anytime you get back into the win column is good for your confidence,” Devils skipper Jesse Meryhew said. “More important than the game was the way the guys swung the bats aggressivley.”
Cordell Schofield led the attack with three hits, while freshman Wade Ticer got his first two varsity knocks. Zach Linder, Juan Baca and Tanner Coulter also took their swins.
Schofield did double-duty as the starting pitcher and went the distance for the win.
The Devils return to league play Saturday with a doubleheader at Steamboat Springs.
