Devils lax falls at Summit
FARMER’S KORNER — Eagle Valley boys lacrosse hit a bump in the road on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Summit County, 7-5, at Tiger Stadium in Farmer’s Korner.
Eagle Valley spent a good portion of the fourth quarter down a man due to penalties, and that generally catches up with a team in the end.
“I think we lost the game for ourselves at the end,” Devils coach Bobby Ecker said. “We hadn’t been in that situation, a tight game at the end. I guess, we kind of lost composure.”
The good news is that this was only the third game of the season and, also, the Devils get the Tigers again on April 21 in Gypsum.
Jared Salaz scored twice, while Zach Booth, Sam Adams and Mike Ramunno all also found the back of the net. This one was tied at three at the half, before Summit capitalized on its advantages.
Eagle Valley (2-1) now enters a tough stretch of its schedule — at Steamboat Springs on Friday and then at Battle Mountain on Monday.
“We’re going to practice hard,” Ecker said. “We need to work on our offense a bit. That was a pretty low-scoring game. Our defense played well. Our offense could use some work.”
