Devils net three wins to start season

Friday, the Devils knocked off 4A Thomas Jefferson High School 15-1, 15-5 in their first match in pool play. Eagle Valley swept 4A Fruita Monument 15-11, 15-5, scoring 20 straight points after falling behind 11-5 in the first game.

In the last pool play match, the Devils knocked off 3A Denver Christian 15-9, 15-10, avenging last year’s loss to the In the elimination round, the Devils fell to 4A Glenwood Springs 15-9, 15-10. Glenwood went on to win the tournament.

Eagle Valley finished tied for third in the 12-team Invitational.



“I felt the kids clicked real well for this early in the season,” head coach Karl Talcott said. “We have some promise. It was certainly nice to get the wins we should have and battled with the tougher squads.”

Eagle Valley hosts Middle Park Thursday at 6 p.m.
