PALISADE – Some nights you take what you can get and be happy with the results.Eagle Valley must have felt like that after Thursday’s Western Slope League wrestling triangular meet.

The Devils routed a roster-challenged Steamboat crew, 45-10, which consisted of four competitors. Facing host Palisade was entirely different. The Bulldogs took advantage of Eagle Valley not having a wrestler in four weights to pick up 24 points. Add three falls to the mix in eight contested matches and it equaled to a 59-12 loss.

James Harvey had the best night for Eagle Valley. He won both of his matches by pins. Both in the first period. The Devils’ 130-pounder nailed Steamboat’s Michael Bauracca in 33 seconds. It was the fastest victory of the meet among the three teams. Later, Harvey added win No. 2 at the 1:36 mark against Palisade’s Chuck Winn.

Brendan Best won the 189 pound Steamboat match by forfeit. Joey Bajza finished 1-1 in matches, defeating Derek Morris of the Sailors, 11-4. He was pinned by Lucas Harvey in the Palisade dual.
