Eagle Valley softball and soccer pick up wins

PALISADE — That, boys and girls, is how you get into the win column in the 4A Slope.

Eagle Valley softball got dizzy running around the bases during a 20-3 win at Palisade on Saturday.

“All in all, it was a great team effort,” Devils manager Jason Buvala said. “Everybody contributed offensively or defensively, or both.”

While pretty much everyone in an Eagle Valley uniform hit, one of the highlights was Regan Bossow, who was 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Mady Callis was 3-for-3 with two more runs knocked in. Savanna Vasquez had the same hitting line and pitched the Devils to the win.

Eagle Valley (2-3 overall and 1-1 in the 4A Slope) gets a week of practice before heading to Sheridan for a four-game tournament next weekend.

Devils soccer wins opener

LAKEWOOD — Eagle Valley soccer turned the tables on Green Mountain on Saturday during its season opener.

The Devils (1-0) lost to the Rams last year, 2-1, but returned the favor by the same count down in Lakewood.

Eagle Valley jumped out early with a free kick in the third minute. Luis Landeros sent it in to Jorge Portillo, who deftly headed it into the back of the net.

The Devils also scored from the run of play with Dominic Jones doing the honors.

Ever Ortiz got the win in net for the Devils.

“My guys moved the ball pretty well,” Eagle Valley coach Jere Simms said. “They created chances superbly, flamboyantly.”

Next up for Eagle Valley is its league opener at Battle Mountain on Tuesday. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
