Eagle Valley sweeps Thompson Valley
DENVER, Colorado – Not only did Eagle Valley volleyball win at state, but the Devils put the 4A tournament back on schedule by dispatching Thompson Valley in three games.
They win and they do good deeds, a great combination.
The No. 3 Devils used plenty of combinations Friday at the Denver Coliseum to knock off the No. 6 Eagles, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.
“It’s reatty great,” middle blocker Daillen Culver said. “I think it boosts our confidence knowing that we can compete with them. We felt shaky at first.”
Eagle Valley did not look shaky in that first game – anything but. The Devils raced out to a 12-3 lead and never looked back.
If there was anything wrong with the Devils winning Game 1 relatively easily, Devils coach Shawn Weatherred sensed a lull in the energy from his team in the final two stanzas. But when push came to shove, the Devils had the answers
Thompson Valley was up 22-19 in the second, only to see Eagle Valley rally.
Lauren Shreeve’s great serving put the Devils up for good in Game 3. Alex Lassa and Culver iced the match with kills.
The Eagle Valley upped its record to 25-2 with the win and take on No. 8 Longmont tonight at about 6.
