Edwards’ Brown named Student-Athlete of the Week
Vail, CO Colorado
BOSTON – Edwards’ Britney Brown (Battle Mountain, Class of 2007) is Northeastern University’s Student-Athlete of the Week.
Brown led the Huskies volleyball team – yes, that’s Northeastern’s mascot as well – to a pair of key victories last weekend to keep playoff hopes alive for the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.
In a 3-1 win against UNC-Wilmington on Friday, Brown posted 14 kills and added 15 assists for her 12th double-double of the season and 34th of her career. She also had six digs and four blocks in the match.
On Saturday, Brown had a career day, notching career-highs of 20 kills and 15 digs as well as 22 assists for a triple-double in the Huskies 3-1 victory against Georgia State. Brown also continued her defensive prowess in the match by posting six blocks.
Brown is the team leader in kills with 274 and second on the team with 403 assists. She has recorded four triple-doubles on the season.
The Huskies return to action today as they host CAA-leading Delaware.
