GYPSUM — The Eagle Valley High School basketball program is launching its 2015-16 season in a big way Friday night.
The program’s Midnight Madness event will get under way at 10 p.m. and continue until midnight at the EVHS gym as a fun way to bring together players, families and fans.
“This is a new tradition from our new head coach (Chris Walls)” said assistant coach Justin Brandt. “All boys and girls basketball players will participating in the event and it is free of charge so anyone can come.”
Brandt noted that community members can both watch the fun and participate themselves, including a shot contest that carries a $50,000 prize for one lucky participant. Coach Walls said that $50,000 prize has definitely piqued interest among EVHS students and families.
“We have had great feedback leading up to the event and the kids are really looking forward to the challenges, contests and the unveiling of the new tradition we are putting into place for our home games,” said Walls. He was cagey about what that tradition is, saying it will be unveiled at the event.
