Feel the grind on Vail Mountain tonight
A cross-country course will loop riders along the base of Vail Mountain, from Golden Peak to Lionshead, on an alpine single-track course. Although one of the most technical courses in the series, the Vail Grind gives racers a chance to see how far they’ve progressed during the 2002 season. The course consists of 5.8-mile laps, with the number of laps dependent upon the class.
Race winners and overall series winners will be awarded prizes at a post-race party at the Larkspur Restaurant at Golden Peak. The Larkspur is providing free burgers for the first 300 racers to get to the post-race party. A free keg of Bud Light will also be available for thirsty riders after the race.
Race start time is 5:30 p.m. and day-of-race registration closes at 5:15 p.m. Please pre-register or show up early.
If riders forget or lose their series number plate, they are required to check-in at the registration area for a new number.
Numberless riders will not be allowed to cross the finish line. For more information, call the Vail Recreation District Sports Department at (970) 479-2280. Sign up in person at your favorite local bike shop or register online at http://www.active.com.
