Fog, rain delay women’s snowboardcross

Associated Press

WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Olympic women’s snowboardcross has been delayed because of fog and rain on Cypress Mountain.

Lindsey Jacobellis is the favorite in the event. She has been waiting four years to erase her showboating mistake from the Turin Games in which the American star cost herself a gold medal and had to settle for silver.

The first two qualifying runs of snowboardcross also were postponed until later Tuesday morning. The SBX finals are now set for the afternoon.

Also, the men’s and women’s halfpipe training have been shortened.
