Former Rockies star Holliday head from A’s to Cards

OAKLAND, Calif. – A person with knowledge of the deal says the Oakland Athletics have completed a trade to send outfielder Matt Holliday to the St. Louis Cardinals.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because an announcement had yet to be made.
The Athletics will receive a package of prospects, highlighted by third baseman Brett Wallace, according to ESPN.com, which first reported the deal.
The first-place Cardinals have been looking to add another hitter to support Albert Pujols. Holliday has struggled in his first season with the A’s, batting .286 with 11 homers and 54 RBIs.
