Front Range spikers close out season

The 2008 Rocky Mountain Region-USAV Power League came to a close last weekend as all teams competed at various locations on the Front Range.

After five RMR Power League tourneys, the Front Range Volleyball Club-Mountain Division teams, which train out of Berry Creek Middle School in Edwards, had good showings, with two of their three teams finishing in Division I of their respective age groups.

Both the FRVBC-Mountain Division 17-Crimson (17-unders) and the Mountain Division 15-Navy (15-unders) competed in Division I. The Mountain Division 17’s, who finished seventh and wound-up ranked 11th overall out of the 60 total teams competing in their age-group, while the 15-unders finished sixth, with a final ranking of eighth out of 78 teams.

In the 14-unders, the Mountain Division 14-Ruby won their first Divisional Title, taking first place in Division IV and finishing the season 31st out of 65 teams.

The 17-Crimson squad and the young 15-Navy’s will play in the Northern Lights Junior Olympic Qualifier, in Minneapolis, Minn., in late April while the fledgling Mountain Division 14’s will finish their club season at the RMR-USAV Regional Championships on April 20.
