Front Range volleyball team competes at Junior Nationals
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Front Range Volleyball Club-Mountain Division 15’s recently competed at the AAU Junior National Championships in Orlando. For all of the players, it was their first time at a junior national championship. And, at first, it showed. The 15’s had a tough time getting it together in the first round of pool play, losing to teams from Illinois, Arkansas, and Florida.Although the Mountain Division girls pushed the No. 1 seed in their pool to three games in the second round, they struggled to find their rhythm against teams from Puerto Rico and Florida. Finally, the 15’s settled down and destroyed a good Space Needle Volleyball U-15 team from Washington, 25-15, 25-15. The win started a run that saw the young FRVBC-Mountain Division team win six straight matches against teams from Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan, and Maryland and Minnesota. The most impressive win came against a powerful Kaepa Northern Lights 15-3 team from Minneapolis in which the 15s won, 25-18, 12-25, 15-13.But the winning streak for the 15s came to an end in a close match (25-15, 23-25, 16-14) against the Club Adidas Select 15-1 in the finals of the Blue Division, and the girls finished the tourney with an overall record of 6-6 in match play.Vail, Colorado
