Grabner, Guenther win snowboard World Cup giant slaloms
KREISCHBERG, Austria ” Austrian snowboarders Siegried Grabner and Doris Guenther won World Cup giant slalom races Tuesday, and both lead the discipline and overall standings.
The 28-year-old Grabner won his second title of the season and 13th overall after beating Simon Schoch of Switzerland in the final. Meinhard Erlacher of Italy beat Heinz Inniger of Switzerland for third.
Graber leads the discipline and the overall standings with 2,560 points. Schoch is second in the slalom standings with 1,720 points, followed by Matthew Morison of Canada with 1,640.
In the overall standings, Stefan Gimpl of Austria is second, 460 points behind Grabner. Janne Korpi of Finland is third with 2,036 points.
Guenther beat Tomoka Takeuchi of Japan in the women’s final for her third victory of the season and seventh overall. Claudia Riegler of Austria took third after defeating Johanna Shaw of Australia.
Guenther extended her lead at the top of both the discipline and overall standings.
