Gypsum Daze adds bike racing

The Gypsum Daze has added road bike criterium racing to the schedule this weekend.Criterium racing is a fast-paced road biking event where riders go out on a closed loop course and try to match speed with tactics. The course starts out in front of the Colorado Mountain News Media building at the Gateway Business Park in Gypsum and winds around Lindbergh Drive, Cooley Mesa and McGregor Drive. Riders are split up into categories and race for 45 to 60 minutes, doing loops on the Gateway Business Park course. There are racing categories for all skill levels and ages.The Gypsum Daze event is part of a series of races called the Colorado Cup. Cyclist compete for cash and prizes throughout the series, as well as an overall prize purse and a chance to win a new bike from Javelin Bikes.
