Hammer in the Hay bike race postponed
Vail Recreation District’s opening race reschedule for next weekDaily Staff ReportVAIL – Recent snowfall and downvalley rain has postponed the first race in the 2007 Vail & Beaver Creek Mountain Bike Race Series. The Hammer in the Hay, which was to take place today, will be rescheduled for May 30.Excessively muddy and deteriorating course conditions has mandated a one-week delay in racing, in order to allow the course conditions to dry out and thereby leave nominal biking impact to the course itself, as well as ensure rider safety.”We couldn’t even drive a truck up there,” said Joel Rabinowitz of the VRD. “So it was highly suggested we postpone the race.”With the exception of the one-week postponement to May 30, all race details such as time, registration, fees, course location and post-party will remain the same. In addition, the postponing of Hammer in the Hay will have no impact on the remaining series schedule. For more information on the 2007 Vail & Beaver Creek Mountain Bike Race Series, contact Brian Doyon at 479-2280 or visit http://www.vailrec.com.
