Heuga Center golf tourney a success
EDWARDS — The 12th annual Heuga Center Golf tournament, presented by Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate, was played recently at the Cordillera Mountain Course. The event, hosted by Cordillera and Outback Steakhouse, attracted 128 players from throughout the country, and raised thousands of dollars to support The Heuga Center’s mission of improving the lives of people and families living with multiple sclerosis through educational/wellness programs and research.The tournament was a scramble format. Winning first place with a gross score (56), and a trip to La Costa Resort & Spa, a VIP box at a Colorado Rockies game, biplane rides from Rocky Mountain BiPlane Adventures, and other prizes, was the team from Colorado’s Front Range, Don Davis, Brian Kalamanka, Jim Carney and Dick McCarty. Davis has been coming to this tournament for 12 years and was extremely pleased to experience his first win. “I idolized Jimmie Heuga and Billy Kidd when I was growing up skiing and it’s great to come up to this beautiful course and play for such a great cause,” said Davis.First place net with a 54.3, winning rounds of golf at Country Club of the Rockies, The Club at Crested Butte, Aspen Golf Club, and other prizes was a team from Denver, Jan Helen, Tom Hadley, Bob Yurgelich, and Brad Parobek. Second place net, with a score of 55, went to defending champs, Roy Theriot, and John, Jason and Chad Watkins. hey won golf rounds at Eagle Ranch and Granby Ranch. In third place was the local team of Rob Roman, Jim Foley, and Joe and Dan Kerr, winning golf rounds at Red Sky Ranch, Columbia Fleece Jackets and Vuarnet sunglasses.Vail, Colorado
