Huskies baseball falls at Delta
DELTA — Battle Mountain baseball was competitive, but still dropped a pair at Delta, 8-2 and 6-4, on Saturday.
The Huskies were undone in the opener when the Panther scored six in the first inning. Battle Mountain was in the nightcap until Delta had a decisive two-run homer in the fifth.
While the Huskies are 0-4 in the Slope (3-4 overall), the good news is that they’re done with what are likely the two best teams in the league in the Panthers and Palisade.
“I am excited,” Huskies manager Jose Meza said. “Even today, our 6-4 loss shows how close we are. We feel we can play against the best in the conference, and now we’re going to give it shot against the rest of the league.”
Battle Mountain hosts Basalt on Monday.
Glenwood Springs’ field wasn’t ready for play after recent weather. The Devils’ doubleheader is now set for April 16.

Are we seeing more bears because there are more bears on the valley floor, or because we’re all spending more time at home? It could be a bit of both.
