Huskies boot Moffat
The Huskies snapped a three-game skid with a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs Saturday morning.
“The whole objective of going up to Moffat was that we wanted to get the whole team psyched up and we wanted to get the varsity on a roll again,” Huskies coach Kate Steffens said. “Now we’ve got a win under our belts and we have three practices to get ready for Glenwood.”
The Huskies got going Saturday behind a nice pass from Lauren Meehan, who slotted the ball to Allison O’Neill. From there, O’Neil placed it with her left foot underneath the Bulldogs goalie for a 1-0 lead.
Z Warren struck next on a beautiful ball from 20 yards out. Cak Baskins finished the scoring by feeding Courtney Robinson.
In goal, Killion Hunn took care of things in the first half before giving way to Caitlin Rapson, who returned from injury.
“It’s great she’s coming back,” Steffens said. “She was like her old self again. She was taking away breakaways, knocking a few people down and getting the ball, of course.”
The win sets up a big game with Glenwood on Thursday in Eagle-Vail at 4 p.m. The Huskies lost to Glenwood in their first meeting, but Steffens believes her charges can challenge the Demons.
“One thing about them is that they’re very strong in the middle,” Steffens said. “We’re assertive and aggressive there too, but we’re also quick on the outside. That’s one of the things we’re going to work on in practice.”

Are we seeing more bears because there are more bears on the valley floor, or because we’re all spending more time at home? It could be a bit of both.
