Huskies boys fourth at Rifle
RIFLE ” The Battle Mountain track and field team is gearing up for the stretch drive after the boys finished fourth at Saturday’s Rifle Invitational, while the girls tied for 10th.
On the boys’ side, the 3,200-meter relay of Connor Tedstrom, Charles Gladitsch, Raphael Joly and Jesus Nunez finished second in 8 minutes, 48.19 seconds. David Shearon also brought home silver in the open 3,200 with a 10:42.
Cody Kleisinger was in the points in three different individual events ” third in the high jump (8 feet), fifth in the long jump (19-3) and eighth in the 100 (12.12 seconds).
Kleisinger along with Jake Robertson, Raymie Higgins and Chris Libertini teamed up for bronze in the 400 relay for a bronze in 46.43.
Tedstrom was third in the 800 with a swift time of 2:04.75. Tedstrom was also in on the mile relay with James Leonard, Charlie Barry and Nunez. That quartet took seventh.
In the pole vault, Jake Robertson (11 feet) and Zach Guida (9 feet) put up points.
Amelia Ortiz paced the girls’ team with third in the 1,600 (5:29.22) and fourth in the 3,200 (12:20.96). Jayna Horn flew 7 feet in the pole vault, good for fifth. Horn, Olivia Fauland, Ellie Cahill and Susanna DeChant ended up sixth in the 800 relay.
In the mile relay, Fauland, Cahill, Kenia Olivas and Tori Grunditisch joined together for seventh in 4:48.79. DeChant leapt to 14-5.5 and sixth place in the long jump, while Cahill took seventh in the shot put.
Battle Mountain is at Dakota Ridge on Saturday.
