Huskies-Demons baseball suspended
Mother Nature didn’t cooperate with the Battle Mountain and Glenwood Springs baseball teams Thursday in Eagle-Vail.
The two teams made it to the top of the third inning before the field became unplayable due to a mix of hail and rain. With Glenwood leading, 3-1, the umps called it with two outs in the top of the third. The two teams will pick up where they left off on Tuesday, when the two teams were scheduled for their second meeting of the season in Glenwood.
Glenwood’s Matt Miller singled in the second inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Chance Stevens. Battle Mountain responded in its half of the frame when Jimmy Feeney led off with a single. The Huskies’ Christian Nagel tied the game at one with an RBI double.
With two outs in the top of the third, Glenwood’s John Faris doubled and Brad Milhoen singled to put runners on second and third. Faris scored on a wild pitch and Milhoen scored on a Huskies’ error.
The Demons had the bases loaded – Miller on third, Mike Hoban on second and Ryan Millyard on first – when the game was suspended.
Glenwood’s Faris and Battle Mountain’s Jose Morales started the game and will be eligible to pitch in Tuesday’s continuation.
In the meantime, Battle Mountain travels to Rifle for a doubleheader Saturday.
