Huskies hockey gets top seed

Battle Mountain hockey got the coveted No. 1 seed when the state-playoff bracket came out Sunday.

The Huskies (17-2) will face No. 16 Chatfield Friday night at 6 at Dobson Arena. If Battle Mountain gets by the Chargers, it faces the winner of No. 8 Palmer and No. 9 Summit who play at 8:15 in Vail.

Regis ended up with the No. 2 spot in Denver with Standley Lake, Aspen and Steamboat Springs. Lewis Palmer is the host at Sertich Arena in Colorado Springs and will start against No. 14 Air Academy. No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain lurks in that region and will play Peak to Peak in the other game in the Springs.

Kent Denver drew No. 4 and faces Pine Creek in the final regional. No. 5 Ralston Valley meets Pueblo to round out that foursome.
