Huskies Homecoming spotlight – Kyle Moore
We’ll let Huskies soccer coach David Cope introduce senior Kyle Moore.”He’s mired in the 1970s as far as music goes,” Cope joked. “He drove around with his skis and his boots on his car all summer until someone stole the boots. I don’t know what that’s all about. I think the real athlete in the family is Karlie (Kyle’s younger sister) and I think he’s just a goofy kid with a good left foot.”Ouch. In all fairness, Moore is an all-leaguer. He’s also a maniacal Red Sox fan, and most importantly, wears No. 16 for Joe Montana, which scores major points with us. For more on Moore, read on:Date of birth: March 1, 1988Born in: VailParents: Dennie and Steve MooreSibling: Karlie, VMS sophomore yearWho’s the better soccer player?: “She is the real talent. She always had the school part and had the sports part, but she’s taking over.”Position: Left midfielder
How excited are you for Homecoming?: “I can’t wait. I’m so excited. It’s going to be a good soccer game, hopefully a good football game. It’s going to be a fun time.”What’s fun about soccer?: “It’s just such a great team sport. It takes everything there is in sports – finesse, speed and power. More than anything it’s just a big mental game. It’s just a puzzle every game.”What’s this team like?: “We’ve all been best friends since we were in fifth grade. Hondurans, Mexicans, we all just get together and it’s a big laugh. When it comes to game time, we all get serious and we all just want to win.”How much do you like to beat Steamboat?: “They’re the Yankees. It’s just a great rivalry and I love beating them.”What’s been your best soccer moment?: “My best moment was probably our overtime game against Summit. Andy Banner springs loose and finishes it. Also, the last game with (last year’s seniors) down at Liberty, even though we lost, it was great playing with those guys.”What was your most embarrassing moment?: “My most embarrassing moment was probably last year. I had an open net from inside the six and I found a way to put it a good 20 feet above the net. There was probably a better chance of getting hit by lightning than missing that shot.”What is Cope like?: “The best part of him is that he just loves the game. He loves everything about this game. Every day, he’s excited to get out on the field even in AP World (History), he’ll be talking about some portion of the world and he’ll go off on what their soccer team’s like. He loves the game.”Funniest Cope moment?: “I don’t know if that can be printed in the newspaper.”Favorite subject: AP world history or AP Lit.College plans: Applying to CU and University of KentuckyCareer plans: “Probably a Novus windshield repairman.”
