Huskies spikers continue success

Special to the Daily The Colorado Performance 18 Red volleyball team continues to play well with some familiar faces.

Four of the starting players on last fall’s 4A state champion Battle Mountain girls’ volleyball team are playing at the highest levels of club volleyball this season.

Sofia Lindroth, Nicole Penwell, Brittney Brown, and Devon Abbott are playing for the Colorado Performance Volleyball Club of Englewood.

The Colorado Performance is enjoying one of its best seasons not in any small part aided by the talented Vail Valley athletes. Traveling to Englewood to train three days per week ” not to mention playing in the RMR-USAV Power League as well as some of the toughest Junior National Championship Qualifiers around the country ” the quartet has helped lead the Colorado Performance 18-1 Red squad to a third place within the Rocky Mountain Region-USAV Power League standings and an impressive third-place finish at the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier held March 16-18 at the Denver Convention Center. They missed qualifying for the Junior National Championships by one place.

In the 16-under Division, Devon Abbott has helped lead the Colorado Performance 16-1 Red team to second place in its respective division within the RMR-USAV Power League standings. The Colorado Performance 16-1 Red team finished ninth overall at the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier, as well.
