Huskies spikers win home tournament
EDWARDS — Queens of the Slope? We don’t know that yet.
Queens of the Mountain? Apparently so.
Battle Mountain won the Queens of the Mountain Tournament in Edwards on Saturday with 5-0 record.
The Huskies downed Alamosa, 21-25, 25-8, 15-13, and Golden, 25-22, 25-27, 15-5, to open the day. (It’s best–of-3 during regular-season play.) The Huskies swept Middle Park, 25-22, 25-14, and Aurora West College Prep Academy, 25-8, 25-12.
Aurora West College Prep is coached by Morgan Spanel, a Battle Mountain alumna, Class of 1996. She still holds the school’s discus record — 114 feet. And in a fun twist, Huskies volleyball senior Jessica Cuomo will likely challenge that mark next spring.
