Inline hockey league season opens

Staff Report

The six-team league will have games Thursday nights for the next five weeks followed by the playoffs.

Tonight’s slate starts with Funke Sports against B.J. Painting at 6, followed by Vail Associates vs. the Battle Mountain Alumni at 7. At 8 p.m., the Canadiens take on the Individuals. There are still openings on the Individuals. Show up Thursday night and league organizers Eric Eves and Justin Bradshow will find a place for interested players.

In the case of inclement weather, makeup games will be scheduled on Saturdays. There is also pick-up hockey scheduled every Tuesday night at the Pavillion.

Another highlight of the 2002 season will be the league’s all-star game, tentatively scheduled for July 27. Though it is hockey, Eves assures everybody that the game will not end in a tie.

The EVIHL is sponsored by Venture Sports and Bob’s Place. For more information, call Venture Sports at (970) 949-1318.
