Jamie Bair takes sixth in discus at state
DENVER, Colorado The Eagle Valley track team ended its season with a bang on Saturday at the state track meet in Denver.The Devils Jamie Bair launched the discus 116-feet, 9-inches to claim sixth place. The finish is the second-highest at state for Eagle Valley. On Friday, Ryan McClintock took home a fifth-place finish in the long jump.The toss was a new personal record for Bair.Shes been practicing really well, Eagle Valley coach Jeff Shroll said. She did her best throw ever today. She did a great job. She threw her best when she needed to do it.Bairs big sister, Kacey, was disappointed with her throws on Saturday, but that didnt diminish her accomplishments this season.Shes just always consistent, Shroll said. She has always been a good leader for the rest of the team.Its good to have an athlete like that on the team.Saturdays discus wrapped up the 2009 season. The Devils won their home invitational in April and had a number of strong meets. Shroll said the future looks even brighter for Eagle Valley.The young athletes that lettered did exceptionally well, Shroll said. I think the 4A Slope is getting better and stronger.
