Lady Saints drop first of season
The 3A Skiers held a nine-point lead at halftime, before running away from the Saints in the second half. Saints sophomore Rachel Glandorf scored 14 before leaving with a severe calf pull in the second half. Glandorf will miss one week of action, which continues Friday with a 1A Mountain League contest at Ouray.
“Our defensive intensity really forced a lot of turnovers,” Saints head coach Pat Beaudine said. “Where we fell short was in rebounding and putbacks. We missed 10 putbacks, easily.”
Brittany Beshoner added four points for Vail Christian. Game time Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Saints boys can’t top Skiers
EDWARDS –Aspen’s junior varsity proved too much for Vail Christian boys basketball Tuesday at Saint Clare’s Assisi in Edwards, as the 3A Skiers pounded the Saints 49-27.
Vail Christian fell to 0-5 on the season, and looks to Friday’s 1A Mountain League opener at Ouray.
“It was still really good for us tonight,” Saints head coach Sheldon Kuhns said. “We always want to win, but our goal was to take a step in the right direction. And we did that tonight.”
Vail Christian was led by sophomore Jamie Graef, who poured in 15 points and eight rebounds. Junior Matt Seatvet added four points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Game time Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m.
