MONTROSE – That was better.
Montrose simply “crushed” Battle Mountain the last two years the two teams have met. “Crushed” was Huskies coach Jason Fitzgerald’s word, and coaches don’t normally speak like that.
Battle Mountain showed marked progress Thursday aginst the Indians, losing in five games, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 15-5. (It took Montrose only six games to win two matches against the Huskies in the last two years.)
“We’re absolutely on the right track,” Fitzgerald said. “They played amazingly better than the last few years.”
LaRose Currie had 16 kills and 25 digs. Emily Clinton pounded 12 kills, and Maddie Perkins dished out 56 assists.
